UNITED ARAB EMIRATES DAY IN WARSAW'S SŁUŻEWIEC
Aziz
On Sunday, 24th August, we attended one of the most important events that take place in Służewiec in Warsaw – the United Arab Emirates Day. It was held for the fifth time, and this year the Al Khalediah Poland Cup race was organised for the first time, under the auspices of the Polska AKF stud. The race was won by Aziz ridden by Martin Srnec, who left behind the favourite Ouzbeks du Panjshir ridden by Piotr Krowicki. Via Verdi Kossack ridden by S. Mazur came third, followed by T. Lukasek on Cepton. The race closed the AAl Khalediah European Arabian Horse Festival organised by the Polska AKF stud from Nowe Wrońska. Wonderful crystal trophies were funded by the Julia Glassworks from Piechowice, a partner of the Polish Institute of Equestrian Culture (PIKJ).
The highlight was the race for the 30th European Award, which is one of the series of races named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the United Arab Emirates. The total of the prizes was PLN 105,000. Amaretto, an eight-year-old stud of French breeding, won just like it had been predicted. The rainy weather did not stand in his way to go down in history, as he won for the third time in a row. The medals were awarded by the United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Poland, Mr Asim Mirza Al Rahmah, together with Mr Wojciech Szpil, the chairman of Totalizator Sportowy, and Ms Lara Sawaya, the executive director of the World Arabian Horses Festival.
Arash
On the other hand, the finals of the Białka Award race caused some astonishment. The main role in the scenario for this race was written for the German HN Rasal. However, this sport abounds with surprises, and thus Arash, ridden by W. Szymczuk and trained by M. Janikowski, was the winner. P. Krowicki on Omar came second, and P. Piątkowski on Szakur was third. The favourite, HN Rasal, came only fourth.
On that day, we also kept our fingers crossed for our Amazon, the 17-year-old Joanna Wyrzyk. Our representative, riding Ya Sabah, came fourth. The winner was a very experienced Amazon from India – Rupa Narpat Singh on Nicolas. Right behind her came Lina Bogren from Sweden on Benefis, while France's Ingrid Grard on Sariah Alkhalediah was third.
Esponna
The UAE Day, held for the fifth time at the Służewiec Horse Race Track, is becoming more and more popular. It is a great chance to promote Arabian horses in the world arena, and it gives the Arabian horses enthusiasts an opportunity to meet up. Apart from rooting for their favourites, the attendees could admire the latest collections of shoes, jewellery, watches and luxury cars. Popular fashion, television and business personalities related to the Arab Emirates were also present. Polish traditions connected with the Arabian horses are known and appreciated around the world. It is therefore not a coincidence that major events related to Arabian horse breeding and riding are organised in Poland.
